StackTown Youth Music Production Program

The StackTown Youth Music Production Program is a community-based hands-on training and mentorship program created to help youth develop creative, technical, and career-building skills through music production and audio engineering. Our mission is to give young people throughout the community a safe, inspiring, and positive environment where they can express themselves, build confidence, stay motivated, and turn their passion for music into real opportunities.

Based in New York City, the program gives students the opportunity to learn inside a real professional recording studio while being mentored by experienced industry professionals. Students receive hands-on training in music production, recording, audio engineering, beat making, songwriting, mixing, mastering, content creation, and music business fundamentals while also developing leadership, teamwork, communication, and professional skills.

The StackTown Youth Music Production Program is structured as an 8-week training experience, meeting 3 days per week for 3 hours per session. To ensure every student receives personal attention, hands-on instruction, and direct mentorship, we intentionally keep the program small and focused by accepting only 5 students at a time. This allows students to work closely with instructors, gain real studio experience, and fully engage in the creative process.

The program is led by Michael Richardson, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Music Production at The Power Station in Manhattan, New York. With both academic training and real-world industry experience, Michael mentors students through every step of music creation and audio production while teaching professional recording techniques, beat production, vocal engineering, mixing, mastering, studio etiquette, and creativity.

At StackTown, students do more than just learn music — they gain confidence, mentorship, teamwork skills, and access to opportunities that can positively impact their future. The program was built to serve the community by giving youth a productive outlet, creative freedom, and career-focused training in a supportive environment.
